|Sodexo Internships Jumpstart Student Careers
By Michelle Robinson, Director, College & External Relations
For the past six years, Sodexo's Future Leaders Internship Program has been providing college students with an invaluable glimpse into the exciting world of Quality of Daily Life Solutions.
Each spring and summer, upwards of 90 top students from around the country test out their management skills by interning in Sodexo's various business segments, gaining exposure to all areas of the our operating environment – from food services, facilities, environmental services or marketing managers in a corporate, education or hospital setting.
Sodexo invests quite a few resources into its internship program. However, there is no greater return on investment than that of a satisfied intern – like Jordan McDonald, a current Food Service Management Intern at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, VA.
"The past three weeks in my internship with Sodexo have opened my eyes to how business is done in a hospital," she said. "Working for Sodexo has been a great experience that will help me to further my career. I have worked in multiple aspects of the Nutrition and Dietetics field, from running trays to patients to working the tray line in the cafeteria. I also helped plan Kids in the Kitchen events where pediatric patients at the hospital could participate in cooking events to help take their mind off being in the hospital. And, I learned about promoting MyFitnessPal to patients and customers, teaching them how to use this online tool to track the foods they eat and how much exercise they get every day."
Sodexo interns are supported each week with regular calls with the College Recruitment Team, podcasts about career opportunities with Sodexo and resume skills, and an assigned mentor.
