Life at Sodexo: Employees Embrace Cultures and Heritages
By Trish Freshwater, Senior Communications Manager

Deeply embedded in the Sodexo culture is an appreciation for the many cultures represented by and the diversity of our employees and those we serve. Evidence of this can be seen at numerous events throughout the year. This fall, two examples include:

  • From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, Sodexo employees across America are recognizing the contributions of Hispanic Americans in the United States and celebrating the heritage of Americans with origins from Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
  • On Oct. 5, Sodexo's Pan-Asian Network Group will join the national South Asian American Leading Together organization for its annual Be the Change national day of service. This year's theme is "Stand Together, Serve Together," encouraging people across the country from all backgrounds to establish a united front for change in their community. Sodexo is a proud sponsor of the initiative.

When you look at our operations and the activities of our people, it's easy to see how diversity and inclusion are not just a business imperative, but a way of life for Sodexo employees. Our culture is grounded in the core values of team spirit and the spirit of service and progress, where we actively embrace, leverage and respect the diversity of our workforce, our clientele and the communities in which we live, work and serve.

New employees learn about our inclusive culture through new employee training and invitations to join any of our nine Employee Business Resource Groups that provide a forum for a sense of shared interests and experiences, or a common dimension of diversity.

Beyond networking and training, employees are also able to secure mentoring relationships to help one another develop through collaboration, goal achievement and problem solving. Mentoring is a developmental partnership through which partners share perspectives as they foster personal and professional growth.
